MimicKit vs SVG Gobbler: SVG-only vs full design extraction.

SVG Gobbler is a focused tool: extract every SVG on a page, preview them, copy the markup, optionally optimize with SVGO or recolor before downloading. It does that one job well — open source, 75,000+ users, ~900 GitHub stars. MimicKit's bulk extraction is broader: the SVGs, Images and Videos tabs each have an "Export All" button that bundles every asset of that type from the page into a ZIP. Plus MimicKit also covers CSS / Tailwind, colors, fonts and design-system extraction in the same panel.

Best for

Choose SVG Gobbler if…

You specifically need SVG icons from this page, you want SVGO optimization built in, and you don't need any other extraction (CSS, fonts, images, design tokens).

Choose MimicKit if…

You want a full site snapshot — every asset organized as AI context — alongside the rest of the design-extraction workflow. The bulk ZIP plus a Cursor / Claude prompt is the typical workflow.

Using both together

They cover overlapping but different jobs. Use SVG Gobbler when you need a single icon and want SVGO-optimized output. Use MimicKit when you're capturing the whole page as input for an AI tool — colors, typography, layout components and assets all together. The workflows complement rather than replace each other.

FAQ

Does MimicKit extract SVGs as well as SVG Gobbler?

For inline SVGs and CSS-background SVGs, yes — same detection logic. MimicKit doesn't include SVGO optimization, so if you need minified SVGs, run them through SVGO afterwards or use SVG Gobbler.

Is the bulk ZIP feature free?

The bulk ZIP is a Pro feature (3-day trial, €6/mo or €49 lifetime). Single SVG and individual image downloads are in the free tier.

What does Export All download?

For each asset type (SVGs, images, videos) the "Export All" button bundles all of that type from the page into a ZIP. You drop the ZIP into Cursor or Claude as context.

Does MimicKit recolor SVGs like SVG Gobbler?

Yes (Pro). Click a saved SVG in the library, change the fill / stroke colors, copy or download the modified markup.
